Davido reacts after fans criticized him for stopping plans to help female hawker who turned out to be a man.
Davido has responded to the uproar that surrounded his attempts to assist a hawker who was first thought to be a woman in great need.
Brain Jotter, a well-known creator of skits, had provided assistance to the hawker, who was first recognized as a woman going by Sultan. A video feature and an N400,000 cash donation were part of the kind deed.
Moved by the hawker’s situation and determination to improve their life, Davido stepped in to extend a helping hand when he learned that Sultan hailed from Osun state, where his uncle serves as governor.
However, the story took a surprising twist when it was revealed that the hawker was, in fact, a young man named Sultan, originally from Osogbo.
This revelation led to Davido’s public announcement on social media, declaring an “ABORT MISSION” regarding the planned assistance.
“Excellency dem job us !! Dem say nah man ABORT MISSION 😂😂,” he wrote.
Although social media users had differing opinions about the issue, several questioned Davido’s decision to stop supporting the person, indicating that they were in fact physically handicapped and in need of help.
A netizen with the username Abiodu. A Adeleke expressed concern about Sultan’s condition and urged Davido to reconsider his stance.
