The world awaits as the two Nigerian kings of Afrobeat, Wizkid and Davido are expected to drop their albums this year.
In every Nigerian’s playlist, there is sure to be a song of Wizkid and Davido. The impact these two artists have made can not be overemphasized.
This year fans of both eagerly wait for the two of them to drop the albums they promised and while they have failed on doing so at the time they promised, hope isn’t lost as the year hasn’t run out.
Wizkid was expected to drop “Made In Lagos” in July, an album that has been anticipated for close to two years. The only sign that the album actually exists is the fact he dropped names of the artists and producers featured on it.
He thanked some artists via his Instagram story months ago and they were H.E.R, Damian Marley, Ella Mai, Tems, Starboy Terri, Skepta, Burna Boy.
Fans of Wizkid are like always holding the fort and still hoping he drops the album as he promised.
While Davido decided to top the success of his last album, “A Good Time” with another album, “A Better Time”. The most anticipated song from that album is the collaboration with Nicki Minaj.
When he made the announcement, he said the album would drop in July but alas, never did. The only news we got from him was his surprise announcement that he was leaving social media for a while until the album drops.
While he kept to his words, he still appears on social media through his crews’ pages. Thanks to this, we were able to know of him traveling to the US despite travel restrictions and meeting up with legendary American rapper, NAS, Hitboy, Iconic Music producer, Scott Scorch, Chris Brown, and Young Thug.
He also shot a music video with Lil Baby. He later came back o the country a few weeks ago and shot another music video for a song called “Para”. A song we are still yet to get.
These moves by Davido is enough to get one hoping the album is mind-blowing like its predecessor.
Even though their fellow colleague, Burna Boy has dropped his album, “Twice as Tall”, Wizkid and Davido are still playing fans around. This writer’s prediction is we might get these albums by December (a crazy Christmas it would be if it happens).
So, which artist would dominate your playlist when these albums drop?
