Davido opens up about fatherhood, late son Ifeanyi, and commitment to Chioma

Afrobeats megastar David Adeleke, known globally as Davido, has spoken from the heart about love, loss, and personal transformation in a moving interview on The Breakfast Club.
Opening up about the tragic passing of his first son, Ifeanyi, in October 2022, Davido recalled it as the darkest chapter of his life.
The young boy tragically drowned at the family’s Banana Island home — a moment that reshaped Davido’s entire world. “That was the hardest time of my life,” he said, crediting his family’s unwavering support for helping him survive the storm.
Now, navigating fatherhood once again, Davido revealed that he and wife Chioma Rowland Adeleke have been blessed with twins — a boy and a girl.
What’s more emotional for the couple is the uncanny resemblance their newborn son shares with late Ifeanyi. “He looks just like him,” Davido shared. “Same way he acts, same things he does. It’s like seeing my son again.”

The Unavailable hitmaker also addressed rumors that have dogged his relationship over the years. When asked about past infidelities, he didn’t dodge the question: “I don’t want trouble. I’ve made a decision — I’m not cheating on my wife anymore.”
Tackling the topic of polygamy, Davido was crystal clear. Despite it being somewhat normalized in Nigerian culture, he sees no appeal in it for himself. “Even if it looks like everyone’s happy, there’s always drama underneath,” he noted, rejecting the idea of multiple wives. When a host playfully suggested he might change his mind, Davido laughed and repeated, “I don’t want trouble.”
The Grammy nominee’s heartfelt honesty and renewed commitment to family have struck a chord with fans, many of whom see this version of Davido as a man transformed — grounded, grateful, and fiercely protective of those he loves.
