Me and Chioma are taking a break from childbearing – Davido on wife’s next steps

Afrobeats megastar Davido, born David Adeleke, has opened up about pressing pause on expanding his family, for now. In a heartfelt chat on the latest episode of Ride Along With Darryl, the award-winning singer revealed that he and his wife, Chioma, are taking a break from having more children.
The couple, who welcomed a set of twins in 2023—just a year after the devastating loss of their first son, Ifeanyi—are choosing to shift gears and focus on personal growth and new ventures.
“I don’t want more children now,” Davido said. “Me and my wife are taking a break. She needs to get out to work. She wants to do a lot of things, like opening her restaurant and launching her spices. I feel she deserves a couple of years off after having 3 kids.”

Beyond his personal life, Davido is also expanding his creative portfolio. The Timeless hitmaker shared his growing passion for acting and filmmaking, hinting at a major move into the movie industry this year.
“I can also act. I can act for real,” he said confidently. “I acted in my music videos—like ‘Jowo’ and ‘Nwa Baby’.” Davido revealed that he’s currently investing in several film projects alongside his frequent collaborator, director Dammy Twitch. “We’ve got ideas. Series coming,” he teased.
Commenting on the broader entertainment landscape, Davido noted the challenges currently facing Africa’s film industry. “The film space right now in Africa is going bankrupt. So, we are definitely going to tap into that,” he said.
With his plate full—balancing fatherhood, music, and now a budding film journey—Davido is showing that his creative ambition knows no bounds.
