Davido set record with the release of his “Timeless” album on iTunes in the United States.
Nigerian superstar Davido has made history by becoming the first African musician to have an album debut at number one on the US iTunes charts with the “Timeless” project.
This is as the album topped the chart on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, making history in the process as the first African album to reach Number 1 in the world’s biggest music market.
‘Timeless,’ by OBO, has continued to break records throughout the world. The record, which was released on March 31, has hit a new milestone after only 6 days!
The only African albums to reach the top two on US iTunes are Davido’s “Timeless” and Burna Boy’s “Love, Damini,” but “Timeless” has now surpassed “Love, Damini” to become the highest-ranking African album on the US iTunes.
‘Timeless‘ reached number one on the US iTunes on Wednesday night (April 5), making it the first African album to have set such a milestone (in just 6 days).

In addition, The 17-track album also made history by debuting all of its songs in the top 100 of the United Kingdom’s Apple Music top songs chart, making it the first and only afrobeats album to do so.
Following the release of the album, the global streaming giant, Spotify, said Davido’s music is most streamed in the United Kingdom, Canada, France and Nigeria.
