Davido shares excitement over Grammy expansion to Africa and The Middle East
Renowned Nigerian artist Davido has expressed his enthusiasm for the Recording Academy’s decision to expand its presence into Africa and the Middle East. This move, according to Davido, signifies a significant recognition of the vibrant talent and global impact of African music.
The Recording Academy, renowned for its stewardship of the Grammy Awards, has announced plans to enhance its support for music creators across Africa and the Middle East. To bolster its engagement in these rapidly growing music regions, the Academy has forged partnerships with Ministries of Culture and other key stakeholders.
“I’m thrilled about the Recording Academy’s expansion into Africa and the Middle East,” Davido stated in a press release featured on finance.yahoo.com. “It acknowledges our vibrant talent and the global influence of African music,” he emphasized.
The Recording Academy’s initiatives have long symbolized musical excellence, and Davido’s comments come on the heels of his recent Grammy nominations for Best African Music Performance, Best Global Music Performance, and Best Global Album Performance at the 66th Grammy Awards earlier this year.
Multiple Grammy-winning artist Angelique Kidjo from Benin also expressed her support, noting that “The Recording Academy is accelerating its efforts to serve music people everywhere, and Africa is ready with open arms.” She highlighted Africa’s rich musical diversity and the enthusiasm of young music makers across the continent.
Akosua Dentaa Amoateng, MBE, a British-Ghanaian entrepreneur known for her contributions to the UK’s GUBA awards, celebrated the announcement on social media. She revealed her role as a senior consultant to the President and CEO of the Recording Academy in facilitating this historic expansion into Africa and the Middle East.
The news has been warmly received by stakeholders and African music enthusiasts alike, marking a pivotal moment for the recognition and growth of African music on the global stage.
