Davido backs Ubi Franklin against Miami stolen watch allegations
Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has stepped forward to defend his longtime friend and business associate, Ubi Franklin, amid swirling social media claims linking the music executive to a stolen wristwatch incident in Miami.
The controversy erupted earlier this week after Tufab, a known associate of Wizkid, reposted allegations suggesting Franklin’s name had surfaced in connection with the supposed theft.
The claims quickly gained traction across online platforms, drawing reactions from notable figures, including Davido’s elder brother, Adewale Adeleke.
Addressing the issue on Wednesday, August 13, Franklin firmly denied any wrongdoing, branding the accusations as baseless.
“I am aware of the recent circulation on social media linking my name to an alleged theft. The allegations are unfounded and entirely untrue,” he said, stressing that the false narrative was a deliberate attempt to tarnish his image.

Davido, in a show of solidarity, took to Franklin’s comment section, insisting his friend owed no explanations to anyone and dismissing the rumour mongers as “fools.”
“You owe nobody any explanation… fools,” he wrote.
Shifting the focus away from the scandal, the Unavailable hitmaker reflected on his lavish Miami wedding to Chioma, describing it as nothing short of magical.
“We had an amazing wedding, perfect in fact! Me and my wife’s body still dey sweet us like this. NOTHING una fit do, say, or make up will ever change the fact that we had a fairytale wedding! And one of the best days—if not the best day—of our lives! The whole world celebrated us,” Davido declared.
