Davido replies to the fan who advised him to face music and ignore politics
Afrobeats sensation Davido responded to a fan’s advice urging him to focus solely on his music career rather than involving himself in politics.
This came after Davido criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on X (formerly known as Twitter), accusing them of engaging in electoral malpractice.
Davido’s involvement in the recent Edo State election sparked discussion, with some questioning his interest in the political affairs of a state he is not originally from.
However, Davido clarified his connection, revealing that his late mother, Imade Veronica Adeleke, hailed from Edo State, which justified his engagement with the election process.
A fan with the username @Riddwane commented, “He should focus on his music. I enjoy his songs, but politics isn’t his field.”
Davido confidently responded to the fan, saying, “If Nigeria had free and fair elections… I’d easily win… YOU KNOW THIS.”
His response reflects his strong belief in the importance of transparent elections and his willingness to express his views on political issues, despite calls for him to stick to his music.

During an interview with Apple Music, Davido revealed how D’banj’s 2012 hit single “Oliver Twist” inspired him to embrace African music and his cultural roots.
“D’banj was my first vision of a Nigerian artist taking over the world,” Davido shared. He noted that seeing Kanye West appear in the “Oliver Twist” music video on YouTube was a game-changing moment.
