The DMW boss Celebrates New Milestone on Spotify, Reflects on Independent Rise

Afrobeats heavyweight David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, is celebrating a major streaming achievement as he crosses 11 million monthly listeners on Spotify for the first time in his career.
The feat comes shortly after the release of his fifth studio project, 5ive, which has been met with wide acclaim both locally and internationally. The latest milestone further cements Davido’s position as one of Africa’s most-streamed and influential artists.
Taking to social media to reflect on his journey, Davido highlighted the unique path he has taken in building his music career.
According to him, unlike some of his contemporaries who had early endorsements or industry support, he built his empire without major co-signs.
“No co-sign, built from the ground up! Just God, good music and the best fans! Appreciate you guys fr [for real]!”, he wrote.

Davido’s recent numbers place him among the top Nigerian artists with the highest monthly listenership on Spotify, joining the ranks of Burna Boy, Rema, Tems, and Wizkid in global digital dominance. His growing audience reflects the increasing international appeal of Afrobeats, and his personal story continues to inspire many across the continent.
With 5ive making waves and his fan base expanding, Davido shows no signs of slowing down—reminding the world that he is not just an artist, but a movement.
