Talented Nigerian singer and songwriter Temilade Openiyi, professionally known as Tems stirs reactions as she finally received her Grammy award plaque.
Recall Mp3bullet, Tems won the coveted Best Melodic Rap Performance Grammy at the 65th Grammy Awards on February 6, 2023.
Tems‘ Grammy-winning work was a result of her collaboration with Future and Drake on the nostalgic hit song titled “Wait For U.”
On Friday, June 2, 2023, Tems‘ manager Muyiwa Awoniyi shared the delighted news of the plaque’s arrival on his official Instagram page via the insta-stories feature.
He proudly displayed the Grammy award plaque without including a caption, allowing the success to speak for itself.
Tems is now known in history as the first female musician from Nigeria to get a Grammy award thanks to her incredible accomplishment.
She was the first female singer from Nigeria to gain a Grammy nomination the year before, which is another important milestone.
Although she narrowly lost the award to Pakistan’s Arooj Aftab, Tems‘ nomination in the Best Global Performance category for her hit song “Essence,” a collaboration with fellow Nigerian artist Wizkid, had garnered international acclaim. It demonstrated her undeniable talent and propelled her to even greater heights.
This recognition will undoubtedly open doors to new opportunities and collaborations for the talented vocalist.

As was to be expected, Tems getting her Grammy Award triggered a wide range of reactions, with many Davido fans criticizing them for being unable to identify with the success as their favourite artist had never even been nominated, never alone won, a Grammy award.
