Davido shatters records on TikTok, gifts earnings to content creators
Nigerian music icon Davido has set a new record on TikTok, achieving the title of the Most Watched TikTok Live Stream in Africa.
This milestone came during a joint livestream with popular creators Peller, Jarvis, and Jo Blaq on October 30, 2024. Davido’s appearance drew an unprecedented 389,800 viewers, with peak concurrent viewership hitting 164,000, further establishing his status as a social media phenomenon.
During the event, Davido received 377 lion gifts, each valued at $400. He generously announced that all proceeds from these gifts would be donated to Peller and his team, showing his support for their work.
The record-breaking event also highlighted Davido’s commitment to his fans and fellow creators, as he had previously promised to collaborate on a live stream with Peller, strengthening their friendship through this gesture.
Beyond the live stream, Davido recently gifted Peller a luxury wristwatch during a visit, a gesture that deeply moved Peller and showcased Davido’s kindhearted nature.

In addition, Davido is set to release his first single of 2024, titled “Awuke,” featuring YG Marley, the grandson of legendary reggae icon Bob Marley.
This upcoming track marks Davido’s return to solo music after the success of his fourth studio album, Timeless, released in March 2023.
He officially announced the release date for “Awuke” on his social media platforms, confirming it will drop on Thursday, October 31, 2024.
