Davido Reacts to VeryDarkMan’s Clarification on Their Lagos Meet-Up

Nigerian Afrobeats sensation David Adeleke, professionally known as Davido, has weighed in on recent comments made by controversial social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), regarding their previous encounter in Lagos.
The conversation reignited online after VDM addressed ongoing assumptions suggesting that Davido had footed the bill for his hotel accommodation and flight expenses during a past meeting. In a widely circulated video, VDM dispelled the rumor, stating clearly that he never received any monetary assistance from the singer.
“I never collected money for hotel or flight,” VDM said, urging fans to stop weaponizing the misconception against him, especially whenever his opinions challenge the dominant narrative surrounding Davido.
In response, Davido offered a short but telling reaction via a now-deleted Instagram comment.
“VDM, if you like, abuse my whole life; I no fit fight you,” he wrote.
VDM later responded publicly, insisting that his remarks weren’t meant to offend but were simply intended to clear the air.
“@davido SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT. If you see it as an insult, the aluta continua. Love always from my end (I no be anybody’s boy still)! RATEL,” he stated.
The interaction has sparked a wave of commentary across social media. While some fans appreciated the relatively calm tone of the exchange, others saw it as a rare moment of restraint between two high-profile figures often caught in online controversy.
For Davido, who is no stranger to public scrutiny, and VDM, known for his confrontational style, the moment marked a shift in tone, with many observers hopeful it signals a move toward more civil discourse in the public eye.
