Davido shares release date for new collab with Angelique Kidjo ‘Joy’
Global megastar Davido has announced the release date for his eagerly awaited collaboration with Beninese singer Angelique Kidjo, titled “Joy.”
Continuing his impressive feature streak in 2024, Davido, who has not released a single since his fourth studio album “Timeless” in March 2023, has already secured four features this year.
These include popular tracks like “Twe Twe (Rmx)” with Kizz Daniel and “Ogechi (Rmx)” with Boypee, Hyce, and Brown Joel.
Following their earlier collaboration on “Timeless” with the track “Na Money,” Davido and Kidjo are set to captivate fans once again with their new single, “Joy.”
Produced by renowned music producer and longtime friend Shizzi, the song is set for release on Friday, August 30th, 2024. Both artists shared the news on social media on Monday, August 26th, 2024, emphasizing that “Joy” holds a special significance for them.

Recall, Davido has expressed admiration for Grammy-winning Beninese singer Angelique Kidjo, acknowledging her role in paving the way for a new generation of African artists, including himself.
Davido highlighted Kidjo’s exceptional representation of the continent on the global stage throughout the years, citing her as an inspiration for artists like him.
In a interview with CNN’s Inside Africa, Davido remarked, “I’ve always been wanting to work with Mama Africa [Angelique Kidjo], that’s what we call her, for a long long time.
“She can perform anywhere and for different crowds. And she has represented us so well, you know, on the global scene. She opened doors for new artists like myself.”
