Daniel Regha Critiques Davido’s Latest Track ‘Funds,’ Scores It…
Popular Twitter influencer and controversial critic, Daniel Regha, has shared his review of Davido’s latest release, ‘Funds’, offering a scathing critique of the track.
The song, which features rapper ODUMODUBLVCK and singer-songwriter Chike, is a nostalgic piece from Davido’s upcoming album, ‘5ive.’
‘Funds’ kicks off with a nostalgic nod to Brenda Fassie’s iconic track “Vulindlela,” subtly playing in the background. ODUMODUBLVCK leads the track with his commanding vocals, followed by Davido’s signature shout, “Shekpe!” Chike adds a smooth touch with his melodic vocals, helping to create a song that radiates a carefree vibe.
Despite the song’s positive reception from fans, Daniel Regha did not hold back in his review.
He gave the track a modest rating of 3/10, criticizing the sampling of Brenda Fassie’s “Vulindlela” and suggesting that the song lacked originality.
Regha expressed his disapproval, saying, “Davido shouldn’t have sampled Brenda Fassie’s ‘Vulindlela’ in his new song ‘Funds’, that’s no way to pay respect to a legend (RIP); Vulindlela holds great importance, especially to those who grew up listening to the song, & it is also a cultural reset.”
Regha also gave a critical assessment of the artists’ contributions to the track. He felt that Davido’s verse was underwhelming, noting, “Davido did nothing exceptional in his verse, just easy rhymes,” and added that Odumodublvck lacked versatility in his delivery. “Odumodu needs to start switching it up, he lacks versatility plus his verse was off-theme,” he wrote.
However, Regha acknowledged Chike’s contribution, albeit with some reservations: “Chike on the other hand did a good job, not the best of verses, but his was more meaningful.” He also pointed out that the song could have benefited from a stronger chorus, expressing hopes that other tracks from the ‘5ive‘ album would deliver more.

In his final thoughts, Regha remarked, “Most songs being hyped by stans won’t see the light of day if sang by unpopular upcomers.” His review of the collaboration concluded with a blunt 3/10 score, leaving little room for praise.
