Daniel Regha Critiques Davido’s 5ive Album, Highlighting Lyrical Missteps and Body Shaming Concerns

Popular Nigerian influencer Daniel Regha has shared his thoughts on Davido’s latest album, 5ive, offering a critical review of the project. Regha, known for his blunt opinions, pointed out several areas where he feels the album falls short in terms of lyrical quality and themes.
In his post, Regha criticized some of the lyrics used in the album, particularly focusing on tracks like “With You” featuring Omah Lay, which he described as a “fumbled collab.”
He noted that the song lacked substance, failing to live up to expectations, and expressed disappointment that the track did not offer anything of note.
Regha also flagged the song “10 Kilo” for its use of the term “Orọbọ,” which he argued perpetuates body shaming and ridicules certain body types.
He expressed concern over what he saw as a missed opportunity for more inclusive and thoughtful songwriting. He also pointed out that Davido’s lyrical skills seemed lacking in some tracks, using examples like “Wheel-barrow” and “Toy-toy-toy” in songs like “R&B” and “Don’t Know,” which he felt were weak word choices.
Further dissecting the album, Regha criticized the track “CFMF” for what he called an inaccurate reference to Davido’s background in the line “face me, I face you,” pointing out that the artist’s affluent upbringing feels out of place. Additionally, he mentioned that the song “Lately” suffered from a thematic miss in its second verse.
Despite his criticism of the album’s content, Regha acknowledged Davido‘s strategic choice of international collaborations, noting that while the collaborations didn’t produce hits, they at least saved the album from being a complete failure.
However, he ultimately gave the album a low rating, citing the beats as the sole redeeming quality, with the project earning a 2/10 rating in his review.
Regha’s review has sparked conversation online, with fans and critics alike debating the merits of 5ive and whether the criticisms are justified. The critique adds to the ongoing discussions about the album’s reception and the impact of lyrics in shaping public perception.
“5ive” the album review:
-“With You” ft. Omah Lay is a fumbled collab, literally nothing to speak of.
-In the track “Titanium”, Davido wasn’t really on the same page with Chris Brown, and the song is basically the same as “Anything”.Again, when it comes to wordplay, Davido…
