Nigerians celebs only remember you when you’re trending – Cynthia Morgan reflects
Nigerian musician Cynthia Morgan expressed her disappointment in the lack of genuine love in the entertainment industry, particularly within the Nigerian music scene.
In a post on her Instagram story, she highlighted the prevalence of fake love and friendship among entertainers.
Cynthia Morgan, who had faced challenges in her career, mentioned that only two individuals, Kaha and Samklef, supported her during her crisis. She noted that others, particularly those she had collaborated with, distanced themselves.
The “Don’t Break My Heart” crooner emphasized how people often remember individuals only when they are trending or when they need assistance with a beat. She mentioned finding amusement in declining collaboration requests from such individuals, stating that their change in tone brings a smile to her face.
The post sheds light on the complexities and challenges within the entertainment industry, where genuine support and friendships can be overshadowed by opportunism.
Cynthia said, “There is barely friendship in the NMI [Nigerian Music Industry]. These people will likely only remember you when you are trending, it when they hear a beat they feel only you can kill. Not intentional but it always feels good these days when they call me and I tell them am not making music at the moment, their voice always changes.
“During my crisis, Kaha sent me 100k, Samklef 50k. What happened to the tons of artistes I did free collaborations and shows for? Lol.”
