Cristiano Ronaldo makes shock claim as Al-Nassr superstar outlines what makes him ‘different’ after reaching 43-goal mark for the calendar year.
Cristiano Ronaldo, the superstar of Al-Nassr, has made it clear that he doesn’t prioritize personal records despite reaching his 43rd goal of the calendar year.
Ronaldo achieved this remarkable milestone by netting a brilliant brace in Al-Nassr’s 4-3 victory over Al-Duhail in the AFC Champions League on Tuesday.
Despite leading the global scoring charts for 2023 with just two months left in the year, the Portuguese forward has emphasized that he is not fixated on personal achievements.
When this was put to Ronaldo after the match, the 38-year-old gave a surprising response. “I don’t care much about records,” he said.
“I’m just thinking about enjoying it at the moment. Our team is improving from one match to another. Our coach and the technical staff are making a great effort to make Al-Nassr the strongest team. The key to continuing to achieve records is that I am having fun, and this is a beautiful thing in football and the secret of my continuity.”
He added on what sets him apart from his peers: “I am happy that I scored goals and performed well, but Cristiano is different from others. I work well, and in the end what I achieve comes with the help of my colleagues and the technical staff and most importantly I am having fun at the moment and helping Al-Nasr and the Portuguese team.”
Ronaldo has had a fantastic start to the season, scoring 20 goals in 19 games for Al-Nassr in all competitions. Erling Haaland and Mauro Icardi, the top goal scorers in Europe in 2023 with 34 goals apiece, are now far behind him.
Ronaldo will try to assist Al-Nassr in winning their first Saudi Pro League championship since 2019 and their first AFC Champions League if his team’s accomplishments are his first goal.
