Crayon discusses his battles with addiction and mental health in the Nigerian Music Industry.
Mavin Records star, Crayon, has candidly shared the dark chapter of his life when he battled severe mental health challenges during the early stages of his career.
In an emotional interview with popular YouTuber Korty, the rising artist revealed the immense pressures of the Nigerian music industry, describing it as a tough environment that’s “not for the faint-hearted.”
Crayon admitted that he fell into drug addiction, using substances like Codeine and Marijuana. This dependency, combined with the frustration of releasing six consecutive songs with little success, severely affected his mental well-being.
At his lowest point, Crayon recalled walking barefoot to the Mavin Records mansion, where he acted erratically, smashing his phone and expressing the desire to quit music altogether.
Thankfully, the moment wasn’t caught on camera. He credits fellow artist Rema for stepping in and supporting him through this difficult period.
