Court clears Naira Marley, Sam Larry, others as nurse faces trial over MohBad’s death

A Lagos court has discharged Nigerian singer and Marlian Music boss Abdulazeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, along with his associate Samson Balogun Eletu (Sam Larry) and Owodunni Ibrahim (Primeboy), in connection with the death of rising star Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
Mohbad’s sudden passing on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27, sparked widespread controversy, with allegations pointing fingers at several individuals, including Naira Marley and Sam Larry.
However, according to a report by Channels TV, the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) has stated that the trio had no case to answer.
Based on this legal advice, Magistrate Ejiro Kubenje ruled in favor of their release, effectively clearing them of any involvement in the tragic incident.
While the three were exonerated, the court ruled that medical personnel Feyisayo Ogedengbe, who attended to Mohbad before his death, and Ayobami Sadiq, one of the late singer’s associates, would face prosecution.
They are being charged with reckless and negligent acts, in violation of Section 251 (e) of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.
This latest development shifts the focus of the investigation as legal proceedings now continue against those still facing charges related to the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death.
