Confirmed Nigerian Stars Dropping Albums This Year
Ayra Starr
Earlier in March, Ayra Starr made the announcement, specifying the timeframe for her second studio album.
When asked about the expected release date on X, she responded with “In 2 Months,” confirming that her album is set to drop in May of this year.
In a recent social media post, Starr shared a picture of herself in a studio, accompanied by the caption, “Seyi Vibez just sent in his verse. Album 80% doneee.” This hinted at Seyi Vibez’s contribution to her project.
Nevertheless, details such as the album title and other significant information are yet to be disclosed.
Tems
In an interview with Billboard, Tems revealed that her debut album is set to be released this year. Despite her significant impact and influence on the Afrobeats culture through collaborations like “Essence,” “Free Mind,” “Me & U,” and others, Tems‘ career trajectory remains remarkable, particularly as she has yet to release her debut album.
When asked about her debut album, she confidently assures fans that her album is “1,000% coming out this year,” although she casually mentions that she’s “not dwelling too much on outcomes.”
Wizkid
On March 1, Big Wiz took to his Instagram story with the caption, “Album”, indicating the preparedness for his 6th studio project.
After making the initial announcement, Wizkid reiterated his readiness for the album a few days ago. However, he admonished his fans to desist from tagging an Afrobeats singer, while making it known the project is ready.
He wrote, “Album done! See you soon b*tches!
“And abeg if you like Pakurumo Wizkid, don’t download this new album. In fact, delete me from your playlist and your life!…”
Fireboy Dml
In February, Fireboy made an appearance at the 66th Grammy Awards held in Los Angeles. During the event, he was interviewed by Rolling Stone on the Grammys red carpet, where he discussed the evolution of the Nigerian music industry and his forthcoming album.
Regarding his upcoming album, Fireboy mentioned that he is currently adding the final touches and expects to release it later in 2024.
Furthermore, in a recent post shared on his social media accounts, he confirmed the impending project with the caption “Album Year,” suggesting that his fourth studio album will debut this year.
Speaking further, he said, “It’ll feature some “amazing, unlikely collaborations, It is a culmination of what I’ve learned in the past couple of years. I mean, the past year, mostly because 2023 was a year of learning for me.
There are a few songs on the album that really talk about focusing on the things that matter —family, personal health, peace of mind, my relationship with God, sharing love with the people that really matter to you. The album is almost like a perfect balance of the three that I’ve released so far, and that makes me really excited to share it with the world.”
Oxlade
The ‘Ku Lo Sa’ singer made this known on his official X handle some days into the year.
A follower inquired if the singer would be dropping an album in 2024, to which he promptly replied, “My only priority right now, to be very honest.”
