Chris Brown Says He Doesn’t Care To Be Accepted By “Mainstream Media”
On March 10, 2024, Chris Brown took to Instagram Stories to express his thoughts on the music industry and how he perceives himself within it.
In his post, Brown asserted, “I don’t seek acceptance from mainstream media or fake celebrities. I stand as a king in my own lane. Your favorite artist doesn’t compare to me, and they’re aware of it. I won’t compromise for approval. Eventually, they’ll come seeking forgiveness from me. That much I know.”
Though the specific targets of his remarks were unclear, the “sensational” recording artist felt compelled to share his sentiments. Throughout his career, Brown has faced challenges within the industry, particularly following his incident with Rihanna.
More recently, Chris Brown disclosed that the NBA rescinded his invitation to play in the Ruffles Celebrity Game during NBA All-Star Weekend. This event featured notable personalities such as Jennifer Hudson and Kai Cenat, with coaching from Stephen A. Smith and Shannon Sharpe.
Brown revealed emails from the talent booking team indicating that he was initially scheduled to join the team led by his frequent collaborator and friend Lil Wayne. Expressing his frustration, Brown wrote, “I was invited by the NBA to participate in the All-Star Game this year! Only to later be informed that I couldn’t participate due to their sponsors like Ruffles.”
Shortly after, Ruffles attempted to clear their name, to which Brown responded, “At this point, I am tired of people bothering me, and I’m tired of living in the f**king past. I posted the emails so you all could see them. The NBA still trying to get me to come courtside… Not f**king happening.” Before sharing the emails, he said, “I only go where I am appreciated.”
Known for his advocacy of Afrobeats, Chris Brown recently showcased his affinity for the genre by welcoming Nigerian star Ayra Starr on his North American tour.
On March 9, 2024, Chris Brown further solidified his ties to Afrobeats with the revelation of the tracklist for the deluxe edition of his critically acclaimed album, 11:11.
Fans worldwide rejoiced as the Angel Numbers singer enlisted Afrobeats megastar Davido for the project, marking their sixth collaboration to date.
