American R&B hitmaker, Chris Brown taps Davido and Lojay on his latest output entitled, Sensational.
Oftentimes, music-frictional dynamism plays out between the title and delivery – as this can be considered ‘art’. But in Brown’s ‘Sensational’, the wordplay and rhythm flow of these three exceptional artists provide the ground to live up to its name.
They convey assurance and affection to that “lover” with delicacy and passion, capturing love in its most “sensational” form. Their voices blend together flawlessly to create an intricate weaving of sound that is sure to enthrall and strike a chord with listeners.
This is even more interesting considering all three have never had a song together, but have had it in different times with one another. In 2019, Davido tapped Brown on ‘Blow My Mind’. The following year, he had Brown on Shopping Spree, while Lojay tapped Brown on Monalisa Remix.
Meanwhile, the production is solid but has a hitch of sampling – as that familiar soft thump of kicks resonates past works from other music heavyweights in the listener’s mind. The credit, however, goes to DJ Philip “Hardwerk”.
For Chris Brown, the genuity is clear; his years of embracing Afro sound have paid off greatly in this piece. While listeners anticipate a visual to compensate this groove, do well to enjoy the audio.
