Another youngster for Chelsea?! Blues set to secure £19m transfer for Aston Villa talent
Chelsea are set to bolster their young talent pool by signing Aston Villa starlet Omari Kellyman, according to a report by The Athletic.
The deal, estimated to be around £19 million ($24 million/€22 million), is close to being finalized, though some finer details are still being negotiated between the two Premier League clubs.
Negotiations between Villa and Chelsea have been ongoing since the early stages of the transfer window. Potential moves involving Conor Gallagher and Jhon Duran have also been discussed.
Additionally, left-back Ian Maatsen is expected to move to Villa Park soon, despite currently being at Euro 2024 with the Netherlands, with Kellyman heading to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have shifted their transfer strategy from acquiring experienced international stars, like Raheem Sterling and Thiago Silva, to focusing on younger prospects. This new approach has led them to target players like Kellyman and Palmeiras wonderkid Estevao Willian.
Despite pushing for the Kellyman transfer, Chelsea’s activity in the transfer window is far from over. New boss Enzo Maresca is keen on recruiting a new striker, and the club has not given up on signing Duran from Villa.
Additionally, they have been linked with Hoffenheim’s Maximilian Beier and Barcelona’s Marc Guiu.
