According to reports, Chelsea are set to hand a contract extension to 38-year-old centre-back Thiago Silva.
With 105 appearances for the Blues since his 2020 transfer from French club Paris Saint-Germain, Silva, who turns 39 in September, is thought to be eager to continue playing until he reaches 40.
The 113-cap Brazil international has played in 18 of Chelsea’s 20 Premier League games this season, which has the west London club ranked 10th in the standings.
Graham Potter, the new Chelsea manager who took over for Thomas Tuchel in September, claimed to be impressed with Silva and wants to keep him at Stamford Bridge past the summer when his current contract is set to expire.

According to The Times, Potter views Silva as the perfect role model as the club’s hierarchy attempt to build a team for the future.
Chelsea have spent £468.6m on players since owner Todd Boehly took control from Roman Abramovich in the summer.
The Blues confirmed the arrival of Noni Madueke in a £35m deal from PSV on Friday, with the winger becoming the club’s sixth signing in January.
The Blues have already brought in Mykhailo Mudryk for £88.5m, and Benoit Badiashile for £35m while David Datro Fofana and Andrey Santos were signed for undisclosed fees and Joao Felix arrived on loan from Atletico Madrid.
Chelsea returns to play on February 3 when they host Fulham in a west London derby. Chelsea is now 10 points outside the top four in the Premier League.
The Blues then face West Ham before a Champions League showdown with Borussia Dortmund in the last 16 on February 15.
