Enzo Maresca is Chelsea’s No.1 target! Blues line up talks that could see Pep Guardiola’s former Man City assistant leave Leicester for Stamford Bridge
Chelsea have reportedly identified Enzo Maresca as their primary managerial target and are moving closer to securing a deal with the current Leicester City boss. This development comes as the club looks for a new head coach following their decision to part ways with Mauricio Pochettino. The Blues are focusing on younger, up-and-coming managers, particularly those who have recently achieved promotion from the Championship.
Initial talks were held with Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna, but he is no longer considered a candidate. Another potential option for Chelsea is Thomas Frank of Brentford, with the club potentially seeking to lure the Dane across west London.
According to The Telegraph, Maresca has emerged as the leading candidate for the position. The Italian manager, who previously served as an assistant to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, successfully led Leicester City to the Championship title in the 2023-24 season.
Chelsea have formally requested permission to approach Maresca and have been impressed by the initial discussions. A deal could be finalized soon, which would see the 44-year-old take on the significant task of meeting the expectations set by Chelsea’s ambitious owners.
