Angelo Gabriel leaves Chelsea after one year at club
Chelsea have confirmed the sale of 19-year-old Brazilian winger Angelo Gabriel to Al Nassr, marking the end of his brief stint with the club just over a year after his arrival.
Angelo’s move to the Saudi Pro League side comes after he failed to make a competitive appearance for Chelsea during his time there.
The transfer fee is reported to be around £19.1 million, giving Chelsea a profit of approximately £6.1 million. Angelo was involved in Chelsea’s 2023 pre-season under manager Mauricio Pochettino but spent the season on loan at Strasbourg, where he made 24 appearances without scoring a goal.
Upon returning to Chelsea this summer, Angelo found himself training away from the first team alongside other senior players like Romelu Lukaku, Raheem Sterling, and Ben Chilwell. Despite being unable to secure a move during the English transfer window, Angelo has now completed a lucrative transfer to Al Nassr, who have also signed other notable players this summer, including RB Leipzig defender Mohamed Simakan and Brazilian goalkeeper Bento.
Chelsea had also been negotiating the potential loan of another Brazilian talent, Deivid Washington, with Flamengo showing interest.
However, a deal could not be finalized before the Brazilian transfer window closed. Washington was linked with moves to Strasbourg and Hull City but is now expected to stay at Stamford Bridge, with clubs like Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, and Monaco also reportedly interested in the young striker.
Angelo Gabriel has completed a permanent transfer to Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr.
