“The boys will bounce back”- Yemi Alade says ahead of Super Eagles next match
Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Yemi Alade has expressed her support for the Super Eagles following their draw against Equatorial Guinea in their first Africa Cup of Nations match. The disappointing 1-1 draw has left fans eager for a comeback in the upcoming match against Cote d’Ivoire on January 18.
Ahead of their upcoming game against Cote d’Ivoire, Yemi Alade has voiced her support for the Nigerian Super Eagles. Mama Africa as she is popularly called, was chosen alongside legendary Ivorian group Magic System and Egyptian singer Mohamed Ramadan to perform at the African Cup of Nations opening ceremony.
The spectacular performer, dressed in traditional African garb, shared the stage with Egyptian singer Mohamed Ramadan and the renowned Ivorian ensemble Magic System to launch the AFCON 2023 theme song, “Akwaba,” which translates to “welcome” in the Baoule language of Cote d’Ivoire.
Despite the disappointing result in the first match, Yemi Alade remains optimistic about the team’s performance. She shared a video of herself at a live match on social media with the caption, “It’s my first time watching A LIVE MATCH AT THE STADIUM. The boys will bounce back #Supereagles #AFCON2023.”
The artist’s support adds to the anticipation for a strong comeback from the Super Eagles in the ongoing tournament.
