The Manchester Derby is the most watched in the English Premier League since Manchester City began their dominance in the League.
The match between the two teams was played for the 187th time on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at the Etihad Stadium. In recent years, Manchester City has dominated the tie in recent seasons, and this game was not going to be an exception.
- Manchester City became the third team to have two hat trick scorers in a Premier League game thanks to Erling Haaland and Phil Foden’s hat trick in the match. The other two matches were between Southampton and Arsenal in May 2003 (Jermaine Pennant, Robert Pires) and Leicester vs. Southampton in October 2019 (Ayoze Pérez, Jamie Vardy).
- Erling Haaland is the third player overall and the first Manchester City player to score a hat-trick against Manchester United since Francis Lee did so in December 1970(also Horace Barnes in Oct 1921).
- Man United have given up four or more goals in the first half in four Premier League games since the season began (against Spurs in October 2020, Liverpool in October 2021, Brentford in August 2022, and Man City today); this is twice as frequently as any other team during this time.
