Charly Boy insists Obasanjo is the only democratically elected Yoruba president
Charly Boy, the maverick singer also known as Charles Oputa, recently made a clarification regarding former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
According to Charly Boy, he stated that Obasanjo was the only democratically elected Yoruba president.
Tweeting, he wrote: “Anything you like, say about Baba. As far as am concerned he’s the only DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED Yoruba President ever…
“Baba, nothing do you. I Twale for you. President Aremu Olusegun OBASANJO.”

Obasanjo was elected president in 1999 and ruled the country for eight years.
President Bola Tinubu, on the other hand, was elected in a hotly contested election in 2023.
Despite his triumph, the opposition challenged his election in court.
They alleged that the 2023 election was characterized by electoral fraud and that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, skewed the vote in Tinubu’s favor.
