In a bold new chapter for both club and coach, Cesc Fàbregas is set to become the next manager of Inter Milan, replacing Simone Inzaghi, who stepped down following a devastating end to the season.

Inzaghi’s tenure ended after a humiliating 5-0 loss to PSG in the UEFA Champions League final, marking a trophyless campaign for the Nerazzurri. The Italian tactician’s departure, confirmed after a mutual agreement with the club on June 3, 2025, closed a four-year stint that included six trophies — including one Serie A title, two Coppa Italia, and three Supercoppa Italiana titles — as well as two UCL final appearances.
Fàbregas, a former midfield maestro for Chelsea, Arsenal, and Barcelona, has been chosen over Roberto De Zerbi — who is expected to remain in Ligue 1 — to lead Inter into a new era. The 37-year-old Spaniard has impressed during his managerial spell at Como, where he secured promotion in his first season and led the club to a 10th-place finish in Serie A this year.
Inter have already reached a personal terms agreement with Fàbregas, and now must finalize a compensation package with Como to seal the appointment.
This move signals Inter’s intent to embrace a fresh vision while honoring their legacy, and Fàbregas’ modern approach and elite football pedigree could be the spark they need after back-to-back Champions League heartbreaks.
Meanwhile, Inzaghi — who emotionally bid farewell to Inter’s fans on social media — is now strongly linked with a move to Saudi Arabian giants Al-Hilal, with a potential appointment before the FIFA Club World Cup kicks off on June 14, 2025.
