Cassper Nyovest reveals how beef with AKA started.
In a candid interview on L-Tido’s podcast, Cassper Nyovest exclusively revealed the truth behind the long-standing feud between himself and the late rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes. The beef, which started over a song, had a profound impact on their relationship, leading to the release of the diss track, Composure.
The roots of the conflict can be traced back to Cassper’s hit track “Gusheshe,” where he had originally intended to feature Okmalumkoolkat.
However, AKA showed a keen interest in the song and wanted to contribute a third verse. Cassper declined the offer, igniting tensions that eventually escalated into a full-blown feud.
Despite Cassper’s attempts to mend the rift, including a boxing match with AKA, the animosity remained unresolved. Cassper shared that the beef with AKA held more significance to him than any other disputes, such as the one with Prince Kaybee.
Moreover, Cassper revealed an instance where he sought to collaborate with AKA on the song “Living On The Edge” but was passed over in favor of AKA, which further strained their relationship.
The untimely demise of AKA on February 10th, following a shooting incident in Durban, has left a lingering sense of regret for Cassper, who now reflects on the impact of their unresolved differences.
Through this exclusive revelation, fans gain insight into the real reasons behind the enduring feud between these two prominent figures in the South African music industry.
In Summary…..!
“The real beef started because of a song, it was because of Gusheshe… I made the song and I wanted Okmalumkoolkat on it, then Koolkat got on the song and he (AKA) loved it so much and he said let me put on a third verse. I was like nah, like this song is perfect and he came like three days back to back,” Cassper explained.
“I feel like, he kinda felt like I was saying yoh I don’t need you cause I also said like I wouldn’t want you to be on my first hit,” Cassper said. “From there it got a bit sour, but I was like let me make another song for you, we have three songs together me and Kiernan so I was trying to make another Gusheshe for his project but he never used any of them.”
