Carter Efe discloses that Asake was chased off stage during his concert at 02 Arena
Oderhwo Joseph Efe, well known as Carter Efe, is a popular skit creator and artist. He recently stated that Asake, a Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer, was ejected from the stage during his performance at London’s O2 Arena last year.
In the most recent episode of the Spill With Phyna Podcast, the sketch creator-turned-singer revealed this while bemoaning the harsh treatment meted out to Nigerian creatives by Western music executives and performance promoters.
He said, “The management of 02 Arena turned off the lights during Asake’s performance at the venue last year. Westerners treat us anyhow, and we still go back to them. They chased Asake off the stage. They put off the lights. I’m not lying.”
The host, Phyna suggested that Nigerian artists should unite and organize concerts for fans in the country but Carter Efe dismissed her suggestion because Nigeria lacks the facilities to host events of such magnitude.
The comedian-turned-singer revealed this on the most recent episode of the Spill With Phyna Podcast, where she also bemoaned the harsh treatment meted out to Nigerian artists by Western music executives and show promoters.
