The historic session, which aired on Wednesday night, saw Carter Efe pull in over 80,000 concurrent viewers, with his channel also crossing 9,000 subscribers during the live broadcast. The numbers have since been hailed as the largest Twitch livestream ever recorded in Nigeria, and one of the biggest across the African continent.

With the appearance of Davido, the stream instantly became a cultural moment, showcasing the growing intersection between African music, comedy, and global streaming platforms. Carter Efe also reportedly became the first African streamer to hit such a massive subscriber milestone on Twitch, further cementing his rise as a digital force.

An emotional Carter Efe took a moment during the stream to appreciate Davido’s support, describing the gesture as deeply motivating. He reflected on how far he had come, contrasting the moment with his long-standing public admiration for Wizkid, whom he has often celebrated in skits and online content. In his trademark humorous style, he joked about the importance of lifting one another, drawing laughter from viewers.

The night took an unexpected and dramatic twist after Davido exited the livestream. Viewers were stunned when Wizkid reportedly gifted multiple subscriptions to Carter Efe’s channel, a move that left the comedian momentarily speechless and sent the chat into a frenzy.

Fans quickly described the moment as rare and symbolic, especially given the long-running rivalry narratives often associated with the two Afrobeats giants.

Popular platform Africafactszone summed up the achievement, stating:

“Carter Efe breaks the record for the most-watched Twitch livestream in Africa with 83,000 viewers on his livestream with Davido.
He is the first African streamer to surpass 20,000 subscribers on Twitch.
He is also the most followed African streamer on Twitch.”

The landmark livestream has since been celebrated as a major win for African creators, highlighting the continent’s growing influence in the global streaming and entertainment space.
