In the era of ‘Afrobeat to the World’, Afrobeat artists are now flying beyond the limit and shores of Nigeria headlining shows in places where it was impossible to so years back.
With Burna Boy making history as the first African artist to headline Madison Square Garden and Wizkid selling out a three-day event at the O2 Arena, the sky is no longer the limit for Afrobeat.
However, many wonders if these artists ever make money from these shows and from findings by Mp3bullet.ng, they do.
Leading pop culture brand, Top Chart Africa compiled a list of African Artistes with the Highest reported revenue per show.
The list is dominated by Nigerian artists with Burna Boy earning seven spots of the top ten shows while Wizkid takes two spots and Tiwa Savage one.
Here are the Highest Grossing shows headlined by Nigerian artists in recent time.
Madison Square, New York- Burna Boy
In 2022, Burna Boy became the was the first African artist to headline a show at Madison Square Garden, New York.
The 30-year-old Nigerian musician opened his two-hour show with Level Up and performed his other hit tracks, On the Low, Collateral Damage and Ye.
According to top chart, the African Giant sold out over 13,586 tickets which when calculated saw the “Last last” crooner make over $1,576,641.
Ziggo Dome- Burna Boy
On the 14th of April 2022, Burna Boy performed at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam for his ‘Space Drift Tour’ becoming the African artist to do so.
The Nigerian singer sold out the 17,000-capacity dome and earned over $1,564,720 from the show.
Capital One Arena- Burna Boy
In 2022, Burna shut down the 20,000-capacity Capital One Arena at Washington DC as part of his ”Love, Damini” Tour selling 14,688 tickets. nHe earned over $1,434,525.
O2 Arena- Burna Boy
On August 27, 2021, Burna shut down London with his headline concert performance at the O2 Arena during his ‘Space Drift Arena Tour’. He sold 15,165 tickets and earned $1,347,333.
Madison Square- Wizkid
Shortly after Burna Boy made history at Madison Square, Wizkid followed suit with a show for his More Love Less Ego tour at the iconic concert location.
The starboy performed at the 20,000-capacity arena in New York, US, on Wednesday, the 16th of November, 2022. Big Wiz sold 12,901 tickets making $1,002,709 from the event.
O2 Arena- Wizkid
Wizkid is a regular performer at the O2 arena first performing on May 2018 when he had his Afrorepublik concert, then again in 2019 and later a three days sold-out shows in 2021 for his Made in Lagos tour.
In his 2021 show, he should 16,938 tickets and made over $958,489 in earnings.
State farm Arena- Burna Boy
In August 2022, Burna Boy made history when he headlined a show at the State Farm arena, selling out 12,753 tickets and earning $905,024 in revenue.
Additional Financial arena- Burna Boy
In December of 2022, Burna Boy shut down the Additional Financial arena in Orlando, selling 7,137 tickets and making $636,923.

It was an incredible night for BET and Grammy Award winner, Burna Boy, when he performed in front of a sold-out crowd in 2022 at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland, becoming the first Nigerian artist to sell out the 13,000-capacity arena.
On March 17, 2022, the multi-award-winning singer performed an incredible set to a sold-out crowd on St. Patrick’s Day, giving the people of Dublin, Ireland, an experience they will never forget.

O2 Academy Brixton- Tiwa Savage
In 2022, Tiwa Savage gave a thrilling performance at the 02 Academy Brixton in London, becoming the first female African artist to do so.
The Afrobeats ambassador, who had been on the road for her “Garri & Water” World Tour, touched down in London, and it was a day to remember.
From the event, she sold 5,300 tickets and made over $344,500.
