Nigerian Grammy Award-winning artist Burna Boy continues to achieve historic milestones, making African history with a sold-out tour in Germany.

Since gaining international success in 2019, Burna Boy has ascended to global superstar status. In a remarkable achievement, he has become the first African artist to sell out the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin, Germany.

On December 9, 2023, Burna Boy filled the 17,000-seat venue as part of his ‘I Told Them’ world tour. This adds to the list of several historic venues that Burna Boy has sold out, consistently solidifying his position as the first African artist to achieve such feats in these prestigious locations.

In 2023, Burna Boy continued his streak of historic achievements, further solidifying his status as a global icon in the music industry. Earlier in the year, he made history by becoming the first African artist to headline a stadium concert in the United Kingdom, selling out a London stadium.

Additionally, he achieved another milestone by being the first African artist to sell out a stadium in the United States with a packed-out show at the Citi Field stadium in New York.

Burna Boy’s remarkable year extended to his music career, where he made history with his seventh album, ‘I Told Them.’ This album became his fourth consecutive album to be nominated for the Grammy Awards.

On the nominations list for the 2024 Grammys, Burna Boy earned four nominations. His hit single ‘City Boy’ received a nod for Best African Music Performance, ‘Alone’ was nominated for Best Global Music Performance, and his single ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World’ featuring 21 Savage was nominated for Best Melodic Rap Performance.

This achievement marked Burna Boy as the first Nigerian to be nominated as a lead artist outside of the global categories at the Grammys. Burna Boy’s consistent groundbreaking successes in 2023 further solidified his position as the face of African music on the global stage.
