‘It’s mostly about nothing!’ – Burna Boy defines what Afrobeats is to him
In a recent interview, Nigerian Afro-fusion artist Burna Boy discussed what the Afrobeats sound and genre mean to him as a musician.
As the anticipation for his album, I Told Them, grows, The African Giant in a recent interview, shared his thoughts on what Afrobeats means to him as well as how the artists under the genre see and work on their projects.
The afrobeats singer characterized the genre as having no substance because it essentially revolves around nothing except having fun.
He continued by saying that he, as an artist, is a strong believer in making music with substance because African musicians that make music with an Afrobeats sound don’t have real-life experiences they can discuss in songs.

In other news, Burna hasn’t wasted any time in announcing the tracklist for his new project, “I Told Them…,” which is set to be released soon.
Burna Boy’s year has been incredible, marked by the summer anthem “Last Last” and sold-out stadiums across the globe.
The album comprises 15 songs, three of which are already available: “Sittin’ On Top Of The World” with 21 Savage, “Big 7,” and his remix of Byron Messia’s smash “Talibans.”
Other collaborations include J. Cole, Dave, and Seyi Vibez. J. Cole is on track No. 14 titled “Thanks,” Dave spices things up on “Cheat On Me,” and Seyi Vibez shines on “Giza.”
His recent single “Big 7” featured stars like RZA, Busta Rhymes, Junior Mafia, and actor Shameik Moore in the music video.
