Burna Boy opens up on how he almost performed while using a wheelchair.
In a recent interview, Nigerian Afro-fusion superstar Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, known professionally as Burna Boy, revealed a previously undisclosed incident that nearly led him to perform in a wheelchair at the recently concluded ‘Made In America‘ festival.
During the interview, the singer shared a remarkable story of how he came close to performing from a wheelchair at the ‘Made In America’ concert in September 2022.
When asked about the circumstances surrounding his collapse off the stage following his impressive performance, Burna Boy disclosed that he had sustained an injury from a knife incident while attempting to prepare his food for the day.
The African Giant went on to explain that the unfortunate incident occurred while he was trying to prepare a peanut butter and jam sandwich. He mentioned that he had not positioned the knife properly, which resulted in it accidentally hitting his toe and causing the injury.
The singer further revealed that he didn’t immediately seek medical attention following the incident because he had to travel to the United States for the ‘Made In America’ festival. Consequently, his injury worsened during the journey.
In that challenging situation, Burna Boy found himself faced with two options: either perform at the festival in a wheelchair or tough it out and perform on his feet.
He chose the latter, deciding to endure the pain. However, after his performance, the pain became unbearable, ultimately leading to his collapse backstage.
