‘Nobody fit write for Odogwu’ – Burna Boy denies using songwriters
Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy has responded to Logos Olori’s claim that he uses songwriters, a statement that sparked controversy.
Despite previously admitting to working with a songwriter, Burna Boy denied the use of songwriters for his music.
In a response on his X handle, Burna Boy stated, “Any name you see credited on my songs are only producers of the songs or featured artists, not writers. But for some reason, the Western world considers producers as writers of the instrumentals, and they just throw their names on there as writers. Nobody fit write for Odogwu.”
This statement contradicts Burna Boy’s past admission that Davido’s signee, Peruzzi, had written a song for him. In a previous interview, Burna Boy acknowledged that Peruzzi was the only songwriter he had ever used.
Logos Olori, a signee of Davido’s, had earlier suggested that top artists, including Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido, employ songwriters due to their busy schedules and the demands of the music industry.
Burna Boy’s denial and contradictory statements have sparked a debate within the music industry. While some fans supported his stance, others questioned his honesty.
