Nigerian Afrobeats stars Burna Boy, Rema, and Wizkid have taken the top spots in Apple Music’s recently released ‘Top 10 Nigerian Songs of All Time’ list.

The chart, compiled to celebrate Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day on October 1st, 2024, provides data-driven insights into the best-performing Nigerian tracks on the platform.

The list features a total of seven artists, both as lead and featured acts, including British-Nigerian rapper Dave and American pop star Selena Gomez.

Topping the chart is Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Burna Boy, who dominates with four songs—three as a primary artist and one as a featured act. Rema follows closely with two solo songs, while Wizkid also claims two tracks as the lead artist.

Other notable appearances include Tems, who features on two songs—one as a lead artist and one as a collaborator. Dave makes the list with one solo track, and Ayra Starr rounds out the group with her solo hit, further cementing her status as Mavin’s queen.

This recognition underscores the global impact of Nigerian music and the continued dominance of Afrobeats on international charts.

    See the full list below:

    1. “Calm Down” – Rema & Selena Gomez
    2. “Last Last” – Burna Boy
    3. “Essence” – Wizkid feat. Tems
    4. “Free Mind” – Tems
    5. “Ye” – Burna Boy
    6. “Location” – Dave feat. Burna Boy
    7. “Calm Down” – Rema
    8. “Rush” – Ayra Starr
    9. “On the Low” – Burna Boy
    10. “Come Closer” – Wizkid feat. Drake

Apple Music’s recognition of these artists highlights the profound impact Nigerian music has had on shaping global trends. From Burna Boy’s powerful, thought-provoking lyrics to Rema’s fresh and youthful energy, Wizkid’s smooth fusion of Afrobeats with mainstream sounds, Tems‘ soul-stirring voice and emotive delivery, and Ayra Starr’s undeniable superstar charisma, these artists collectively represent the evolution of Afrobeats into a worldwide phenomenon.

The carefully curated list by Apple Music not only celebrates Nigeria’s hit songs but also showcases tracks that have propelled African music onto the global stage, solidifying Afrobeats as a dominant force in international music.
