Nigerian Grammy Winner, Burna Boy is no stranger to criticism over his type of music but recently he was forced to react after a lady slammed him using his music to give Africa a bad name and gain from it.
According to the lady by the username, @BigDera on Twitter, Burna Boy is fond of making it look like Africa is suffering and a jungle in his songs and music videos for his own profit.
The lady claims that this is an insult to Africans and that the Grammy singer should stop making it look like Africans live in jungles and in forests.
She stated that even Fela, who is his musical inspiration didn’t make Africans look like animals to talk about oppressors in his music. She also took offence to Burna saying that Wizkid sings about b*tches and he sings about real life.
Dera’s tweet was posted by Instagram blogger, Bwetv and Burna Boy who came across the post took to the comment section to reply to her.

In his lengthy reply, he fired back at Big Dera saying that she might be among those set of people who live abroad and come back for holiday and think they know better Africa and what he should sing about.
According to him, he doesn’t gain anything by singing about the oppression being faced by Africans as it takes more from him and his pockets to sing about the truth like he has always done.
In his words;
“First of all ain’t no “WE” You live in the UK and probably only come to Africa for holidays. You and anybody that thinks like you deserve the worst in life and the afterlife.
You think I need to sing about the truth of the African suffering to gain? Dumb bitch! it takes more away from me, my pockets and my family to sing the truth like I have always done.
I would be way more comfortable and Richer if I didn’t sing the truth about my society. If I wasn’t the MAN I am or if I didn’t have so much integrity, I could have accepted the numerous Millions of dollars I’ve been and continue to be offered by African politicians.
FYI Nobody can make music about Girls, money, and bullshit better than me(I’ve proved this countless times) I just CHOsE to Speak my Truth and the truth about Africa.
So go and listen to one of the many great talents coming out of Africa and skip “BURNA BOY” if you can’t handle it. I’m FROM AFRICA! ME and my whole extended family LIVE IN AFRICA and it’s always on our minds that the RISK for the things I say and do gets bigger the bigger I get. FUCK SUFFERING and SMILING !”
