Burna Boy says he wants to headline a free concert in Burkina Faso

Grammy-winning Nigerian icon Burna Boy has expressed a heartfelt wish to perform live for his fans in Burkina Faso. On May 17, 2025, the Afrofusion superstar took to his Instagram story to announce his interest in organizing a concert in the West African country.
“If possible, it will be an honor for me to give the people of Burkina Faso a free Burna Boy concert sometime this year, insha Allah,” he shared.
This potential gesture comes amid Burkina Faso’s rising prominence on the global stage, largely due to the bold leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré.
Since taking power through a coup in 2022, Traoré’s anti-imperialist stance and sweeping reforms have earned him widespread admiration, especially among African youth who view him as a symbol of resistance and change.
Burna Boy’s fans in Burkina Faso can expect nothing less than the electrifying stage energy that has defined his rise as one of Africa’s most iconic performers.
Though he hasn’t made frequent stops across African stages, Burna Boy recently thrilled fans in Kenya with a sold-out show earlier this year.
Globally, however, he continues to break barriers—most recently selling out England’s largest indoor venue, The Co-op Live in Manchester, on April 21, 2025. This came just days after his monumental performance at the Stade de France in Paris, where he filled the 80,000-seat stadium—making history once again.
2025 is already shaping up to be another major chapter in Burna Boy’s career. He’s preparing to release his eighth studio album, No Sign of Weakness, later this year.
The upcoming LP follows the success of his 2024 singles “Higher” (a Grammy-nominated track) and “Bundle By Bundle,” both of which have built anticipation for what’s next from the African Giant.
