Burna Boy loses all seven nominations at BET Hip-Hop Awards.
Despite his seven nominations at the BET Hip-Hop Awards, the renowned African Giant, Burna Boy, was unable to secure a win in any of the categories.
The global recognition of Afrobeats continues to grow, with artists from Nigeria making significant strides. Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, was nominated in seven categories at the BET Hip-Hop Awards but unfortunately did not take home any awards.
The BET Hip-Hop Award show took place on October 3, with the broadcast occurring on October 10, 2023.
The African Giant received nominations in a variety of categories, including Hip-Hop Artist of the Year, Best Hip-Hop Video, Best Collaboration for “Sittin’ on Top of the World” featuring 21 Savage, Best Live Performer, Song of the Year, Hustler of the Year, and Lyricist of the Year.
Kendrick Lamar emerged as the biggest winner of the night, while Ice Spice was honored with the Best Breakthrough Hip-Hop Artist award.
Black Sherif achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the second Ghanaian artist to secure the Best International Flow award, a category previously dominated by Sarkodie.
With hopes for the future, it’s expected that Burna Boy and other Nigerian artists may secure nominations and secure Grammy Awards once again. The 2024 Grammy nominations are set to be announced on November 10, 2023.
