Grammy Award-winning Nigerian singer Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has reportedly received a new Muslim name, AbdulKareem, following his conversion from Christianity to Islam.

The development comes days after Burna Boy revealed during a Twitch live session with U.S. streamer PlaqueBoyMax that he had embraced Islam, marking a major spiritual shift in his life.

Speaking about his upbringing, Burna Boy disclosed that he was raised in a Christian household, adhering to the faith and principles instilled by his parents.

However, as he grew older, he began questioning aspects of life and religion, which eventually led him on a personal quest for deeper meaning.

“I was born into Christianity because that’s what my parents practiced. But as I got older, I started to research more about life and faith. That was when I found Islam,” he said.

The ‘Last Last’ hitmaker explained that his decision to convert was not driven by rebellion or external influence but by a personal conviction that brought him peace and purpose.

“It was something that came naturally to me. I just felt a connection and peace,” Burna Boy added.

Following his announcement, a number of Muslims online have welcomed the singer into the Islamic faith. A viral post shared by Mutan Kannywood, an entertainment page with over 500,000 Instagram followers, revealed that Burna Boy has been given the Muslim name ‘AbdulKareem’.

    The post read:

“Breaking News 🤩🤍🤯 Burna Boy reveals that he officially converted to Islam ☪️. He is now a Muslim and anytime he prays, God answers him really fast. Burna revealed that there was a time he was seeking truth and that led him to Islam. Bro is now AbdulKareem. Muslim brothers and sisters, let’s welcome our brother Burna Boy to Islam, the religion of peace and truth! 🤍 Congratulations brother, may Allah accept your Islam. We love you ❤️.”

While Burna Boy himself has yet to officially confirm the new name across his social media platforms, the news has sparked widespread conversation among fans, with many expressing admiration for his spiritual openness and personal conviction.
