Burna Boy gifts Cubana Chief Priest’s ‘brother’ promised $30,000, socialite reacts
Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy has followed through on his promise to gift $30,000 to Bethel Okechukwu, who identifies as the brother of socialite Cubana Chief Priest.
The gesture comes amid an escalating feud between Burna Boy and Cubana Chief Priest that has played out publicly on social media.
The conflict began when Burna Boy referred to Cubana as “Owerri Rick Ross” in a cryptic post, questioning the authenticity of his wealth.
In response, Cubana made claims about Burna’s Grammy win, alleging connections to embattled American entertainer Diddy and referencing an incident in 2018 when he reportedly paid Burna N1 million to perform as a backup singer at his birthday party.
As the feud intensified, Burna Boy shared a video of Okechukwu’s struggles and promised to help him with $30,000. Less than 24 hours later, Burna Boy fulfilled the pledge.
A video posted online shows Okechukwu expressing immense gratitude, saying the money has pulled him out of poverty. He wrote: “God is real, Odogwu @burnaboygram, God has used you to pull me out from poverty. I will be forever grateful. Please, people, help me thank him for me.”
In response, Cubana Chief Priest denied that Okechukwu is his biological brother. Taking to his Instagram story, he clarified: “I have only one biological big brother & two kid sisters. They ain’t doing so bad. Regardless, I owe them nothing, na my money. Make everybody find their own.”
Cubana also suggested that Burna Boy could help Okechukwu further by featuring him on a song, saying: “Na musician, you fit even give am verse.”
The ongoing dispute has captivated fans and sparked debates online, with many praising Burna Boy for his philanthropic gesture while others question the motivations behind it amidst the heated exchanges.
