Burna Boy Reveals Why He Cancelled Netherlands Show After He Kept Fans Waiting For Hours.
Nigerian Afro-fusion superstar Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu MFR, known professionally as Burna Boy, has apologized and provided an explanation for cancelling his headline show in the Netherlands after making fans wait for hours.
Due to circumstances beyond his and his team’s control, the Grammy winner postponed his sold-out performance in the Netherlands.
The African giant was scheduled to perform on June 17, 2023, at the 39,000-capacity GelreDome, Arnhem in the Netherlands, but the event was sadly postponed.
Burna recently served as the host of the UEFA Champions League Final in Istanbul and sold out the 80,000-capacity London Stadium.
Many furious fans were left waiting for several hours after The African Giant, who purportedly sold out the event, only to postpone the performance later.
Burna Boy confirmed the gig’s cancellation on Instagram, citing “a number of reasons.” The singer continued by saying that a new date would be revealed for the event and that he was looking forward to performing for his Dutch fans as well.
Fans, however, didn’t appear to agree with Burna Boy’s explanation and criticized the singer and his staff on social media for their behaviour.
An aggrieved fan wrote: “Useless. Got us waiting for more than two hours, to cancel the show at midnight. Rubbish.”
Another fan wrote: “Burna isn’t supposed to be a celeb, doesn’t have what it takes. So unwise in handling fans, cancelling shows after much delay. That’s disrespectful! More unwise are fans who idolize him, turn up every time. Y’all create an association to deal with any celeb that messes up. So unwise.”
