After the Recording Academy announced his multiple Grammy Award nominations, Burna Boy took to social media to share his reflections on the recognition, extending congratulations to other African artists who received nominations.

In the 2024 Grammy nominations list, Nigerian stars Davido, Olamide, Asake, and Ayra Starr were nominated alongside Burna Boy, along with South African singer Tyla.

Burna Boy’s ‘City Boy‘ from his 2023 album ‘I Told Them‘ earned a nomination in the inaugural African Song Performance category, where it competed with tracks like Asake & Olamide’s ‘Amapiano,’ Ayra Starr’s ‘Rush,’ Davido’s ‘Unavailable‘ featuring Musa Keys, and Tyla’s ‘Water.’

Burna Boy emerged as the highest-nominated Nigerian artist, securing a record-setting four nominations, including Best Melodic Rap Performance for ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World‘ featuring 21 Savage, Best Global Music Performance for ‘Alone,’ and Best Global Album for ‘I Told Them.’

Expressing his gratitude to the Grammys for the recognition, Burna Boy also congratulated his fellow African nominees, praising their talent.

His post on the social media platform X read, “Once more, my deepest gratitude to the Grammy academy for this incredible honor. A HUGE congrats to the talented African artists who were nominated alongside me. The true win lies in sharing these moments with you all at my shows and expressing it through my music. 🙏🎶 @recordingacad #ITOLDTHEM   As always Love,Damini.”
