Nigerian Afrobeats powerhouse Burna Boy continues to break new ground internationally, as his 2019 hit single On The Low has officially sold over 1 million units in the United States, according to popular music data platform Chart Data.

This milestone makes the track eligible for Platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), further cementing Burna Boy’s position as one of Africa’s most globally recognized music exports.

With this new certification, “On The Low” becomes Burna Boy’s third platinum-certified single in the US, joining the ranks of “YE” and “Last Last,” which have each surpassed the 1 million sales mark.

The feat also brings Burna’s total number of RIAA plaques to seven, an achievement that places him among the most certified Nigerian artists in the United States.

Originally released in 2019 as a lead single from his Grammy-nominated album African Giant, On The Low enjoyed widespread commercial success across multiple continents. The song has previously earned gold certifications in the UK, Canada, Sweden, Switzerland, Netherlands, and Denmark.

Burna Boy’s influence in the US market extends beyond certifications. The African Giant crooner has also made six appearances on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, with Last Last peaking at No. 44, his highest-charting entry to date. His critically acclaimed album Twice As Tall also earned him a Grammy for Best Global Album, making him the first Nigerian solo artist to clinch the award.

As Burna Boy continues to set new records, the excitement surrounding his recently released eighth studio album, No Sign of Weakness, is gaining momentum. The project features global icons including Mick Jagger, Travis Scott, Shaboozey, and Stromae, blending Afrobeats with rock, country, hip-hop, and French pop influences.

To further promote the album, Burna Boy is set to embark on a North American tour that will see him headline arenas across major cities in the US, further solidifying his transatlantic dominance and cultural reach.

With On The Low now certified Platinum in America, Burna Boy’s global legacy continues to grow, one hit at a time.
