Again, Brymo apologises for Igbo presidency comments
-
Brymo offers yet another apology for making debatable remarks regarding the Igbo presidency.
Olawale Olofooro, often known as Brymo, has once more apologised in public for his remarks regarding the likelihood that the South-East will produce a president of Nigeria.
Due to the agitation for Biafra from influential people in the area, the musician had come under fire when he declared an Igbo presidency would merely be a “pipe dream.”
Brymo, who supports Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress for president, also advised those in the southeast to run for vice president first before deciding to run for president.
Brymo, on the other hand, apologised on Friday night on Instagram.
Going live on the social media platform, he said the issue started after he shared his opinion about author, Chimamanda Adichie, refusing national honours but accepting a chieftaincy title in her hometown, Abba, Anambra State.
Apologising, he said, “I did not insult the tribe, I am sorry to anyone who it sounded as such to. I was trying to weigh into a very important matter.”
However, in the early hours of Monday, he tweeted another apology saying, “Forgive my assertions that came across as bigoted spewings against the Igbo tribe, I did not mean to do harm, I am sorry!!”

His first apology came after thousands of Nigerians signed a petition to stop the singer from winning the All Africa Music Award, where he was nominated in the ‘Songwriter of the Year’ category.
However, many people failed to accept the musician’s apology because they were of the opinion that it wasn’t genuine.
But his manager, Ortega Kakawa in an interview with The Punch, said; “Brymo has apologised to the entire Igbo on his Twitter space and Instagram live, where he addressed the fracas and miscommunications he may have caused online. His apology was not under duress but at free will in his personal space.”
“The entire management also sends heartfelt sincere apology to every Nigerian in the country and in the diaspora that may have been affected. We hope every petition signed against him is nullified in good light.”
