Senegal humble Brazil as Bayern Munich star Mane grabs brace.
Champions of Africa Senegal defeated Brazil 4-2 in an international friendly match on Tuesday night, with Bayern Munich striker Sadio Mane scoring twice.
Senegal extended their unbeaten streak to eight games following their 4-2 victory over five-time world champions Brazil.
Brazil was their most recent victim, as they easily defeated the reigning World Cup champions 4-2.
Despite a turbulent season at Liverpool, Sadio Mane remained a talisman for Aliu Cisse’s team, scoring twice in the memorable victory.
With Selecao’s coaching status still up in the air, they faced a Senegal side who had been unbeatable in their previous seven games.
The Selecao got off to a strong start and even managed to take the lead quite quickly as Vinicius assisted Lucas Paqueta in the 11th minute.
When Vinicius was judged to have been fouled in the box, things for the Taranga Lions appeared to be going from bad to worse; however, an earlier penalty decision was reversed.
The official visitors for the day were roused by the summons and began to work harder. In the 22nd minute, Habib Diallo scored the equalizer as Cisse’s team started to compete on an even playing field.
Senegal took off at the beginning of the second half, forcing Marquinhos, the captain of Brazil, to score an own goal.
Only three minutes later, Mane improved the African team’s lead by skillfully completing a Diallo assist.
The Lions’ lead was halved by Marquinhos almost immediately after Mane’s strike, but the African champions had the final say when Mane converted a late penalty to seal a historic 4-2 victory.
