Boohle is pleased that the Grammys recognised Amapiano’s global influence.
South African singer and songwriter Boohle has expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Grammy Awards for recognizing Amapiano’s growing influence on the global stage.
The genre, which has been evolving for years, has seen its artists continuously push boundaries, and now this global acknowledgement is a milestone worth celebrating.
The Recording Academy recently published an article spotlighting some of South Africa’s top Amapiano artists. Boohle, being one of the featured artists, took to social media to share her appreciation for this recognition.
“It feels amazing to have been part of Amapiano’s long, interesting journey from when the genre was underground and unrecognized, to now, where the world is celebrating it. For the Grammys to acknowledge this milestone is an honour. This recognition is not just for us mentioned in the article but for every South African Amapiano artist who has contributed to the movement,” she wrote.
She added, “Although we may be in the spotlight now, we must honour the pioneers who paved the way but never got the recognition they deserved. This milestone celebrates a decade of Amapiano’s global rise, and it’s for all who have been part of this journey.”
